Music - It Makes My World Turn
60A monster has been created
Everyone has an escape they use to forget about the world. I hope they do, anyway. We all need that place we go to when it's too much some days. I would not be exaggerating when I say music is my lifeline, my best friend, my religion, it's what keeps my blood pumping. It's what I turn to more than anything. Don't tell my husband that, he might be a little peeved. I joke, he knows that better than anyone.
I was traumatized at a very young age. Something happened that I was too young to understand, but old enough to remember. I re-live that day frequently. Even as a kid, I needed an escape. That's where my little purple radio with single cassette player came in. No matter where I went, my little purple radio came with me. I always had a tape in there. I would just sit for hours listening, waiting for certain songs to come on. It was my best friend. It was the early-mid 80's when I started with this massive obsession with music and it never went away. My mom would take me grocery shopping and she would just leave me in the magazine aisle. I would read all of the hair band magazines - Metal Edge, Hit Parader and Rolling Stone. I still have a lot of those magazines somewhere. I can't wait until the day I find that box! I was all about the 80's hair bands. To this day, I still listen to those bands like it's 1987. I still have my tapes and I still play them once in a while. My sister took me to my first concert when I was 8. It's safe to say that just enhanced my love even more. At 8 years old all I wanted to do was go to concerts. One of these days I'm going to sit down and make a list of every show I've been to. I assure you, that list will impress the pants off of you.
Throughout the years I've had a lot of traumatic situations occur. I've seen and been through a lot and through those situations I always turned to music. Whether it's a record, cassette, CD, or live concert. It always pulls me through.
I go to concerts all the time, I've literally been all over the country and have seen thousands of shows. If a couple weeks go by and I don't have a show booked I start frantically looking. If there's a concert that involves a road trip - even better. I love all genres. I can listen to Country one second and turn out and rage with some Metal the next. As long as it makes me feel something, I'll fall in love with it. Every day I think about what I'm going to listen to while I'm at work. Sometimes I just close my eyes and pick, some days I wake up and know exactly what kind of music day it's going to be. No matter, it always makes the day a little easier. OK, a lot easier.
I hope everyone has a relationship with something in life as I do in music. Something that you cannot imagine your life without. That something that keeps you kicking.
What's your escape?

I love to listen to music, too. I like to listen to rock and roll, new country, or pop-anything that sounds good. I love to listen to "memory" from cats. Ave Maria is a really beautiful song. Music is wonderful!
I've always loved listening to the Beatles, Heart, Aice Cooper, The Monkees, and many more. Ave Maria is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, too. I love to watch the music videos on Youtube, too. Music is wonderful.

I find music comforting at times, and sometimes I want to hear music that has no words. Other times I like rowdy rock and then, techno can make me feel happy. Disco did the same. Strange the effect music has on the world. It certainly brings people together.
